West Mercia Police detectives are continuing their investigation into the disappearance of Russell Blent, from Meole Brace.

He was first reported missing on April 9 by his concerned family although the last confirmed sighting of him was on March 17.

The unemployed 35-year-old, who was known by his nickname Gudge, had been travelling to Bridgnorth in the days before he went missing.

Officers investigating his disappearance confirmed it was being treated as suspicious in August and are continuing to urge anyone with information to contact police.

DCI Neil Jamieson, from the West Mercia Police major investigation unit, said: "Russell has now not been seen for over six months and we have serious concerns about his welfare.

"This is completely out of character for Russell who has failed to do the things which formed part of his usual routine.

"We urge anyone who has information about the circumstances surrounding Russell's disappearance to contact police immediately. We know Russell spent some time travelling to and from Bridgnorth in the days leading up to his disappearance and we ask anyone who may have seen him during this time to notify police."

He was last seen at 12.30am on March 17, close to the Meole Brace roundabout, and is described as white, about 6ft 1ins, of a heavy build with short dark hair.

He was wearing blue jogging bottoms, a grey jacket and blue and white trainers.

Over the last six months, police have searched woodland in the Meole Brace area and appealed to householders to check sheds, garages and outbuildings for evidence that someone has been sleeping rough. Hundreds of leaflets have also been distributed in the area.

However there have been no firm sightings since March.

Mr Blent has the initials THFC – for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club – tattooed on the knuckles of his left hand.
