Mother of Rhiannon Whyte murdered by an asylum seeker in Walsall sets up foundation in her memory to help children left behind
The mother of murdered Walsall hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte has launched a foundation in her name to help her daughter and other children whose mums have been murdered.
The Rhiannon Whyte Foundation is for 'the children left behind' after a mother has been murdered.
Miss Whyte, who was knifed to death at Bescot Railway Station, on October 20, 2024, left behind a young son.
The foundation has been organised on behalf of Rhiannon's mother Siobhan by Orla Minihane.
She said: "The foundation has been set up to provide support for families who have lost a daughter, sister or wife and to children who have lost a mother to murder.
"We aim to provide both emotional and financial support to those who have been left behind to rebuild their lives after the most unimaginable of tragedies.

"Rhiannon has left behind a broken family, a grieving Mother and a little son. Almost 150 women are murdered in the UK every year- approximately 75 per cent of those women are mothers, many with young children.
"Supporting those children to stay within the family unit or with a close relative means they are less likely to be taken into the care system."
A GoFundMe fundraiser has clocked up over £630 in less than a week after going online.

Miss Minihane added: "This foundation will use all donations to build a website, communication systems, support networks, therapy groups and donations for individual children and carers.
"We will also raise awareness around women's safety and wellbeing. No donations will be used to pay any “employees” or board members - every penny will be reinvested into the foundation and its work."
Soibhan appeared on GB News today (Wednesday) promoting the foundation. She said: "She was an angel. All she wanted to do is help others. I keep on thinking what could have been done, I rewind and rewind the CCTV all the time."

Deng Chol Majek entered the UK by small boat less than three months before launching a frenzied assault on mother-of-one Rhiannon Whyte.
Majek, who was branded “demonic and inhuman” by Ms Whyte’s family, was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 29 years for her murder at Coventry Crown Court.
