It follows allegations that an officer was chased with a squeezy bottle, said to contain urine and faeces.

Defendant David Algie, 33, now of HMP Altcourse in Liverpool, appeared at Mold Crown Court today via a live television link from custody.

He is charged that on April 26 at HMP Berwyn he unlawfully and maliciously administered to prison officer Jonathan Parsons a poison or other destructive or noxious thing, namely urine and faeces, with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy him.

Algie pleaded not guilty and was further remanded in custody by Judge Niclas Parry.

The defendant’s trial will take place on May 23 at Caernarfon Crown Court.

An earlier hearing was told that it was the defence case that the bottle contained a mixture of water and a tea bag.
