Daniel Thompson was arrested in swoop at the Lord Hill Hotel, in Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, after staff became suspicious of his activities at the premises where he was staying in October.

The 29-year-old had £830 cash in the room along with 41 wraps of heroin and 23 wraps of cocaine with an estimated street value of £640 that were immediately seized by the officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Everett said: "West Mercia Police is committed to protecting our communities from the harm that drugs use can cause and we strive to do all we can to stop drug dealers who are attempting to set up in the county.

"We will continue to tackle reports of drug use through robust enforcement that targets drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour.

"Members of our community play an important part in this through the information they provide.

"If you have information or any suspicions about drugs-related activity in your community, I urge you to call West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Thompson, from Liverpool, was last week jailed for three years at Shrewsbury Crown Court after admitting offences of possession of drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.

A forfeiture and destruction order for the drugs was also made at the hearing.
