The £180,000 facelift, which is due to be complete by the middle of next month, will create 10 new jobs.

Stephen Hagon, manager at the cinema who will also be taking control of the new venture, said: "There will be seating for approximately 87 people, including additional seating areas outside on the terrace during summer."

He said the store was due to open on February 14, selling Italian coffee, sandwiches, paninis and pastries, and opening from 7.30am to 10pm during weekdays, and from 10am at weekends.

"We are now looking to recruit staff," he added.

Those interested can telephone him at the Odeon cinema on 01952 290126.

Costa has been expanding its store network across Shropshire and Mid Wales over the past couple of years.

* There was more good news on the Telford jobs front today as power tool maker Makita held an open day in the hope of recruiting more assembly workers for its Hortonwood factory.

The Japanese-owned business said it was looking to take its workforce in the town over the 500 mark "due to the introduction of new products and increased production". There are vacancies for assembly operators, production and service engineers.
