'Another successful show': Traditional Shropshire community event celebrates one of its best years yet
The community event was a huge success
More than 100 people attended the latest successful edition of a traditional south Shropshire show.
The Corvedale Autumn Show took place on Saturday afternoon (September 5) at Diddlebury Village Hall.
Families flocked to the event to take part, vying for the chance to win the likes of the Vegetable and Fruit Cup, the Flower Cup, the Corvedale Shield for preserves, the Cyril Haydon Challenge Cup for cookery, and multiple children’s sections.

There was also plenty of tea and cake for patrons to consume as well as entertainment, including a present-wrapping competition and the hotly anticipated Spud in the Bucket contest.
Organisers told the Shropshire Star it was one of the most well-attended editions of the show in recent years.
This might have been helped by the glorious sunshine all afternoon, allowing those attending to browse the trade stalls outside without fear of the weather.

This year’s entries into the pumpkin and squashes categories were also particularly impressive, organisers noted.

Show chairman John Woodhouse said: “We had another great day weather-wise and we had a good amount of entries in all the classes, which was great to see considering how hot the summer has been.
“So, all in all, another successful show.”
The show is organised by a dedicated few locals and takes months to plan, they said.

Furthermore, organisers said they are always on the hunt for new committee members.
The Corvedale Autumn Show has been running for nearly seven decades, and is a yearly reminder of what a tight-knit community the area has.
Mr Woodhouse said: “This show has been going for nearly 70 years and these events are essential to keep the village and surrounding Corvedale area coming together to celebrate all the growing talents and produce, along with the craft and cooking talents that are out there in our communities.”
