Mr Monopoly visits Iron Bridge as search for sites to feature on Telford edition of famous board game begins

The people behind regional special editions of Monopoly have been snooping around Telford this week to seek out the landmarks and organisations which should be featured on the town's board.

Telford has been chosen from a shortlist of ten places from across the UK to land its own version of Monopoly. 

The town will join around 65 other towns, cities and regions from around the UK, including Shrewsbury, Chester and Wolverhampton, to have a community edition of the iconic board game made by Winning Moves UK.

Following the announcement on Thursday (February 6), Mr Monopoly himself paid a visit to the historic Iron Bridge as the gamemakers toured the town looking for inspiration for the latest board.

Ben Ladd Gibbon, custom games executive at Winning Moves, said: "We have gone through 10 cities over the last year. Telford beat out Sheffield and Norwich and seven others.
