Choir sings for Stags' do

Hadley Orpheus Male Voice Choir is hosting a concert on Saturday, March 17, to help raise cash to send a mixed ability rugby team from Shropshire to the world cup in 2019.

The concert at St Lawrence's Church, Little Wenlock, is at 7.30pm and is in support of the Shropshire Stags, which has both disabled and non-disabled male players aged over 18.

Last year the team went to a world tournament in Spain and was in joint fifth place, and it is now fundraising for the next mixed ability rugby world cup.

Soloist at the concert, which is billed as "an enchanting evening of song," will be one of the finalists in Rotary's young musician of the year competition for Shropshire.

Tickets are £5 each and are available either on the door or by calling Cherie Pressland on 01952 630119. There will be a prize raffle and drinks and cakes will be available at the interval.

The Stags team includes players with conditions such as Down's Syndrome and autism, and aims to build life and social skills. It trains on Saturdays at 10am at Parsons Barracks, Donnington.
