Woman assaulted in Ludlow pub on New Year's Day

Police in Shropshire are investigating an allegation of assault in Ludlow and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The offence is believed to have happened at the Compasses public house in Corve Street in the early hours of New Year's Day, when a woman was assaulted by an unknown man causing bruising above her eye.

A police spokesman said: "Police attended the location at the time following a report of a disturbance, but the assault was reported later.

The offender is described as a white male, aged between 28 and 35, about 6' tall, of medium build and with short, dark hair."

Anyone who was in the pub at the time and has any information about the incident is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 20S of January 1.
