Rejected Ludlow homes bid resubmitted
A developer is so confident its plans for 215 homes would win on appeal it has resubmitted almost exactly the same bid that was thrown out last year.
Tesni Properties Ltd has again put forward outline plans for land next to the A49 bypass on the northern edge of Ludlow – despite Shropshire Council's south planning committee rejecting a previous proposal last summer.
The project, which would include a new roundabout off the A49, a park on the banks of the River Corve and a new shop, will be discussed at the next meeting of the south planning committee on Tuesday.
Tesni has appealed against the planning committee's decision to refuse permission in July last year, which is due to be heard over a three-day public inquiry later this year. The appeal would be dropped if the plans are approved next week.
Councillors have again been urged to back the plans this time around by planning officers at Shirehall – just as they were in July. Councillor Andy Boddington, Shropshire councillor for Ludlow North, said the only change to the application was the removal of a connecting footbridge.
He said: "I am very unhappy with it all. The developer has put in for appeal with no communication with us. They are saying approve it without the footbridge or when it goes to appeal the plans will include the footbridge and will go through anyway."
Case officer Julie Preston, in a report to the committee, said: "The appeal will be withdrawn if this application is granted permission."
