Telford man fined for threat to rape family of police officer
A Telford man threatened to rape the family of a police officer when confronted over a disturbance, a court heard.
Amardeep Singh Rana, 25, admitted at Telford Magistrates Court yesterday to being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
The court heard that he had been arrested after being abusive to officers on October 14.
They had been called to an address in Suningdale, Hadley, Telford, following a disturbance.
Mrs Kate Price, prosecuting, said that the police had been called by a person who "did not want the defendant at that address".
She told the court: "Rana matched the description that the original caller had given."
The court heard Rana had been abusive to an officer and said: "I'm going to rape your family."
Rana was later arrested for his behaviour and for making threats.
He pleaded guilty to one count of being drink and disorderly in a public place.
Rana, of Far Vallens, Hadley, defended himself in court.
He told magistrates that he had been experiencing problems in his personal life and that he struggled to cope with alcohol.
He apologised for his behaviour and for being abusive to police officers.
He told the magistrates: "My mother had passed away and I don't normally drink."
Magistrates told Rana that police officers should not be subject to this kind of language or abuse towards their family.
He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
He was also told he would have to pay a £10 victim surcharge
