A 30-year-old woman from Telford has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in a flat in Bridgnorth town centre.
A 30-year-old woman from Telford has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in a flat in Bridgnorth town centre.
The man, named locally as 57-year-old father-of-three Richard Sherratt from the Stourbridge area, was found in a flat in Old School Mews off High Street on Thursday.
The entrance to the first floor flat has been sealed off for forensic examination and police are stationed outside the property.
The woman has been kept in custody at Shrewsbury police station and is being interviewed in connection with the death of the man, who was found about midday.
A post mortem has been carried out by a Home Office pathologist to establish the cause of death and the coroner has been informed.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Tonks of West Merica Police said: "I can confirm the death is being treated as suspicious and as a result, a murder inquiry is being conducted.
"I can also confirm that a 30-year-old Telford woman was arrested during the early hours of this morning on suspicion of murder. She remains in custody at Shrewsbury police station and is being interviewed in connection with the death."
