The Big Sing in Telford proved to be a huge success as 1,500 children and parents packed into the New Bucks Head.

About 1,500 school children hit all the right notes as they packed out AFC Telford's New Bucks Head stadium to take part in the Big Sing.

The event saw children from across the borough join forces for a "mass celebration of singing and music".

Pupils from 28 schools around Telford sung their hearts out at the ground in front of thousands of parents.

The event was organised by Telford & Wrekin Music and led by Mary Keith and Paul Wilcox.

Councillor Stephen Burrell, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "Telford Big Sing was a fun and inspirational community event which brought young people from across the borough together to energetically perform a collection of songs which wowed the audience.

"Singing improves learning, confidence, health and social development.

"It has the power to change lives and helps to build stronger communities."

Pupils spent three months preparing for the event.

The evening sun shone on the crowd throughout the event, which is part of a government initiative to get more children into singing.
