I realise why crime is falling

A headline in the Star on October 20 stated "Borough crime falls despite national rise", and I think I know why. It is because the police often do not attend incidents and only give a reference number over the telephone, so many people simply do not bother to report crimes.

A headline in the Star on October 20 stated "Borough crime falls despite national rise", and I think I know why. It is because the police often do not attend incidents and only give a reference number over the telephone, so many people simply do not bother to report crimes.

No wonder the crime rate appears to be going down. I know a man who had his industrial unit burgled and property stolen but did not bother to report it. When I asked why, he replied: "What good will it do, they won't attend."

Now, I do not blame the police. Even though the police do sometimes spend time and money on silly things, generally they try hard to give the best service.

The Government needs to stop wasting money on foreign wars, the EU, and many other things and spend more on the police, health care and things of real importance to the man in the street.
