Telford will be a city in the end
I am afraid that George Evans will see Telford City, like it or not! When in the 1970s I attended a meeting with the chairman and chief officer of Telford District Council and they told me that no longer was Telford considered to be an overspill for Birmingham (Dawley New Town) but a city to rival the biggest in the land.
Telford City was going to house millions - that was the plan then, and it seems nothing has changed.
I am sure that the people of Dawley, Ketley, Wellington, Madeley, Oakengates and Hadley were happier as they were, before they got swallowed up by the monster Telford.
However there is no turning back now, and Telford will soon rival Birmingham, as it swallows up more and more countryside.
