Free help to sort out your debt
The recent Shropshire Star article about personal debt was excellent. A word of caution about Individual Voluntary Arrangements, however. Personal debt is becoming an increasingly profitable business for a growing number of IVA practitioners.
I fear there is much potential for the industry to be blighted by malpractice in much the same way that the endowment mortgage business of earlier decades was.
An IVA should only be approached with the benefit of free and independent advice from the Citizen's Advice Bureau or National Debtline on 0800 808 4000.
Either can recommend a reputable practitioner, where an IVA is the most appropriate course of action.
Personal debt is a nightmare, but no-one need despair. Free help is readily available.
