Bev Spicer left England and the Shropshire countryside behind in 2008, after moving to France with her husband and two children.

After writing every day, Bev discovered her vocation and went on to write her first novel titled Bunny on a Bike, which was published in 2013.

Since then Bev has gone on to produce an impressive number of novels and several short stories to match.

While Bridgnorth may now be hundreds of miles away, the town still serves as an inspiration and has featured in two of her most recent books.

"Even though France now is home, Bridgnorth is where my heart is. Always will be," explained Bev.

She added: "We moved to France inject some adventure into our lives and, I’ll admit, to get a helping of French sunshine. It was a big deal.

"Leaving friends and family, clearing out a lifetime of junk so we could rent out our house, wondering if our Rover and homemade trailer would last the journey. But, ten years later, we’re still here and loving it.

"After finding a crumbling Charentaise house in a picture perfect village not far from the coast, I’ve been writing almost every day.

"Two of my most recent books are set in my home town, Bridgnorth."

Bev's novel based in Bridgnorth

The first novel, Memoirs of an Overweight School Girl, is a humorous memoir which reflects on many treasured memories.

One memory includes trudging up Stoneway Steps, past Whitney’s and the temptation of chocolate jam doughnuts, explains Bev.

The second book, What I Did Not Say, is a mystery thriller with a heart-stopping courtroom drama that centres around two best friend, who grow up on opposite sides of town.

The River Severn forms the backdrop to their childhood games and developing friendship.

"I’ve been back to my hometown several times to stroll around the Castle Walk, visit Bridgnorth Endowed School and pop my head into various shops on the High Street to say hello.

"I really hope I’ll get to Bridgnorth for a book signing some day. It would be great to meet some of my contemporaries and share a few memories," said Bev.

Always keeping busy, Bev is currently working on another mystery thriller which will be available in the near future.
