We outline seveb options – the poll is now closed.

Our poll will form part of Shropshire Council's public consultation - see shropshire.gov.uk/swim

The seven options

1. Refurbishment of Quarry Pool.

Building cost: £2,317,656

Cost per year to run: Loss of £89,374

Number of users per year: 292,861

Facilities: Would maintain four existing pools

Description: No new build, would address backlog of required maintenance but would not develop "modern fit for purpose sports facilities".

2. Renovation of Quarry Pool.

Building cost: £12,808,323

Cost per year to run: Loss of £89,374

Number of users per year: 292,861

Facilities: Would maintain four existing pools

Description: A fuller renovation will alter existing facility because it does not meet modern health and safety and Disability Discrimination Act standards. No change in actual facilities, although the environment will be more attractive and accessible, resulting in potential to increase usage and income.

3. New build on Quarry site

Building cost: £10,989,859

Cost per year to run: Loss of £79,996

Number of users a year: 398,246

Facilities: Main pool, learner pool, water confidence area, fitness suite, and seating.

Description: New modern facilities offering "better customer experience". Potential to reduce operational costs given modern design, energy efficiency, and increased participation.

4. New build on land at Clayton Way.

Building cost: £10,624,822

Cost per year to run: £77,539 loss

Number of users a year: 398,246

Facilities: Main pool, learner pool, water confidence area, fitness suite, and seating.

Description: New modern facilities offering "better customer experience". Potential to reduce operational costs given modern design, energy efficiency, and increased participation.

5. New build on land at Ellesmere Road

Building cost: £10,941,971

Cost per year to run: £77,539 loss

Number of users a year: 398,246

Facilities: Main pool, learner pool, water confidence area, fitness suite, and seating.

Description: New modern facilities offering "better customer experience". Potential to reduce operational costs given modern design, energy efficiency, and increased participation.

6. New build on land at Shrewsbury Sports Village

Building cost: £9,007,843

Cost per year to run: £194,994 profit

Number of users a year - 486,846

Facilities: Main pool, learner pool, water confidence area, fitness suite, and seating.

Description: New modern facilities offering "better customer experience". Potential to significantly reduce operational costs given the opportunity to integrate provision on one site and reduce the number of Shropshire Council operational facilities. Also savings through modern design, energy efficiency, and increased participation.

7. New build on land at Shrewsbury College

Building cost: Up to £10,941,971 or up to £12,141,971 if new sports hall included.

Cost per year to run: Not yet estimated.

Number of users a year: Assumption would be that this would be a figure between a full new build and the Sports Village site option (between 398,246 and 486,846)

Facilities: Main pool, learner pool, water confidence area, fitness suite, and seating.

Description: New modern facilities offering "better customer experience". Potential to reduce operational costs given the opportunity to integrate provision on one site, along with use of modern design, energy efficiency, and increased participation.
