Bucknell author launches children’s book inspired by 40 years of teaching
A Bucknell author has drawn on 40 years of teaching for a new children’s book about starting school, friendship and overcoming fears
A South Shropshire author has drawn on four decades in the classroom for a new children’s book about friendship and the worries of starting school.

Jennie Dodd, who lives in Bucknell, will launch her sixth book, I Don’t Want to Go to School!, on October 31.
The book is the first in a planned trilogy featuring Gregory Greenlegs, following the character’s journey from being reluctant to start school to not wanting to leave.
Set in the village of Bucknell, the story combines animal adventures and countryside settings with themes of friendship and overcoming fears.
It aims to offer reassurance to young children facing the prospect of starting school, with Gregory’s first-day worries providing a familiar experience for children and parents.
Friendship is central to the story, with Gregory forming a bond with Mizzy Mole. Their loyalty and companionship help them face challenges together.
The book draws on Mrs Dodd’s 40 years of teaching experience, which has informed her portrayal of children’s feelings and experiences as they navigate school life.
