Beloved restaurant and cafe at Weston Park to close amid 'difficult trading environment'
The owners said the “difficult decision” came amid a tough time for the hospitality sector
The team behind Weston Park’s restaurant and café has announced the venture will close next week.
Granary Restaurant and Café at Weston Park, a stately home venue on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border, will be closed from Monday, November 2.
A spokesperson The Weston Park Foundation said the “difficult decision” came amid a tough time for independent businesses.
The foundation was established and gifted the house and Capability Brown parkland by the 7th Earl of Bradford in 1986.

They said: “Like many businesses in the hospitality sector the restaurant and café have faced increasing operational challenges in a difficult trading environment for independent businesses.
“As an independent charitable foundation, it is essential that our commercial operations are financially stable and make a positive contribution towards our wider charitable objectives, helping us to care for Weston Park.
The foundation said the closure would allow it to explore a new use for the space that better supports the long-term sustainability of the historic estate.
The spokesperson added: “We would like to express our sincere thanks to our dedicated team for their service and commitment and express our gratitude to the many loyal customers who have supported the Granary over the years.”
