Summer signing Callum Marshall earned the Hatters a point.

Luton boss Jack Wilshere was happy his players were disappointed to only claim a point from their 2-2 draw with Notts County at Kenilworth Road.

The hosts had led through Nahki Wells’ 42nd-minute penalty but then found themselves 2-1 down with just over an hour gone, Cal Roberts netting before the break and Ollie Cooper also on target.

Summer signing Callum Marshall came off the bench to earn a point and Wilshere said: “I’m happy they’re disappointed we didn’t take all three points, we want that.

“However, my message to them was we’re not going to win every single game. We want to and we prepare every game like we want to win, however this league is demanding.

“I think the last two games have probably shown us and shown the players what this league is about. There’s a bit of carnage in every game that we have to find a way to manage.

“We can’t allow two goals a game, three goals a game, we have to look at that. There’ll be a lot of good stuff that we did, but I want the players to be disappointed we didn’t win.”

Luton had to reshuffle after 10 minutes when a serious head injury suffered by Jordan Clark saw the midfielder carried off on a stretcher.

Town then went in front just before half-time when Liam Walsh’s corner was handled by James Gibbons and Wells scored from the spot.

Roberts saw his half-volley deflected into the bottom corner from 20 yards three minutes later and once Jake Richards and Gideon Kodua put good chances over, Luton trailed when Cooper was left completely unmarked to score.

Marshall spun to make it 2-2 after 68 minutes, with Kasey Palmer going close to a winner.

County boss Martin Paterson said: “I was quite mixed with the players.

“The one thing you’ve got to say is we came here with a gameplan, and the players committed to it.

“All game I was asking them to pass the ball and I thought we should have been better, but we’ve come to Luton away and they’re a team that are expected to win the league or go up out of the division and we’ve come and competed.

“A newly-promoted team and we gave a great account of ourselves, but I want more and the players know what I want.

“Once again there’s lots of good stuff, the second goal that gives us the lead, I thought we could have done that more. I might be being unfair on them as we are against a really good opposition.

“I just felt when we scored, again it’s really hard to get your team to go fully out, as if we do give them too much space, they can hurt you.”
