Shropshire cricket season set to start

The Shropshire Cricket League kicks off later this month - with Newtown looking to build on their survival in the Premier League survival from last season.

Having earned promotion from Division One - the top placed side in Powys fought with relegation for most of the season.

And managed to get over the line late in the season to preserve their status.

They kicked off their season on April 25 as they travel to Madeley.

Elsewhere, Montgomery are also on the road in Division One as they make the trip to Shifnal looking to start their campaign with a victory.

Guilsfield are also on their travels in Division Three as they head to Newport Seconds, while Welshpool Firsts also welcome Condover.

It is a big derby clash up first in Division Four as Newtown Seconds play host to Llanidloes on the opening day of the season.

Elsewhere, Welshpool Seconds will be on the road as they make the trip to Pontesbury looking to start the campaign strongly.

Guilsfield Seconds are up into division six and kick off the season against Acton Reynald, with Montgomery Seconds facing Forton Seconds.

And in the Sunday Division Three, Newtown Thirds kick off their campaign on May 3 against Lilleshall Fourths.
