Inside Shropshire primary school's £4m refurbishment plans
The proposals are currently out for public consultation
A Shropshire primary school is set benefit from a major upgrade to its facilities, including a new classroom block, a hall and improved outdoor spaces.
The Learning Community Trust has submitted its proposals to replace ageing classroom accommodation at Crudgington Primary School, near Telford, with modern teaching facilities.
The £4m scheme would include a new 547sqm classroom block containing four classrooms, alongside reception and administrative areas, a headteacher’s office, library and reading space, storage and toilets.

A new 140sqm school hall would also be built, providing flexible space for dining and indoor school activities.
The proposals would also see improvements to the playground, which would be resurfaced with a sports tarmac finish to allow it to be used as a multi-use games area.
New fencing and gates are planned, alongside covered outdoor areas, improved pedestrian routes and a new entrance for visitors and pupils from the car park.
If given the go-ahead by Telford & Wrekin Council planners, the development would be carried out in phases to allow the school to remain operational during construction.
The first stage would involve building the replacement classroom block before the existing classroom block is demolished.
The new hall and connecting corridor would then be constructed and linked to the retained school buildings.
Headteacher Hannah Gharu previously said the new facilities would “make a real difference to our children’s daily experience” and that the team were “thrilled” to see the project moving forward.
The plans, which are available to view online on Telford & Wrekin’s planning portal (reference TWC/2026/0800) are open for public consultation until November 21.
