The 23-year-old hailed it a dream come true when signing from Cambridge United last Monday.

He flew to Austria the following day and has since made two appearances.

Norris told the Express & Star: “It’s been good so far, it’s been a good start to pre-season.

“I had two weeks with Cambridge previous and then flew out late last week. It’s been a productive tour – everyone’s got minutes under their belt and we’re all adapting to the new style.

“It’s been one of the busier weeks of my life! But it’s also been one of the best weeks of my life as well.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me here. I’m so appreciative of it and I’m determined to give it my absolute best.

“I’ve given everything for my previous clubs and this is no different.”

Norris will compete with Jack Ruddy, Harry Burgoyne and John Ruddy for a place in Nuno Espirito Santo's first team squad.

It's certainly stiff competition – but it's a challenge the keeper is relishing.

"It's really tough competition," Norris added. "John, Jack and Harry..there's competition there.

"I'm not going to get too carried away with my short term goals but in the long run I've definitely got some things in mind.

"In the short term it's about sussing out the squad in my first week, joining up and settling in."

What are his first impressions of the squad so far? "They're a fantastic group, they really are.

"I look forward to working with them this season. The quality is fantastic, the step up has been really noticeable.

"You don't get many Ruben Neves' in League Two! To be fair it is a step up but I'm looking forward to challenging myself.

"It's come at the right time in my career. No disrespect to League Two but I feel I need to push on now and keep challenging myself.

"This was the perfect opportunity and one I couldn't say no to."
