The rangy centre-half is very much part of the current backline that has now kept 11 clean sheets from 25 third tier games this term.

The summer signing from Accrington has been filling in at left-back since the injury to Junior Brown in October and has impressed of late as part of the back four that have conceded just one in four games over Christmas and New Year.

"It's definitely something special to be part of," said the You can see that we don't even look like conceding, it doesn't feel like it - it's a good feeling to have.

"We just try to build from the foundation of keeping clean sheets and see if we can get the win from there.

"It wasn't the prettiest game. I guess a few have been like that recently."

The likeable defender explained how Town's proud defensive record in recent weeks has him 'buzzing' and also heaped praise on match-winner Shaun Whalley after the winger netted his ninth goal of a prolific season.

He added: "I'm buzzing, you want to get as many points as possible and that Christmas period is so tough, playing game after game in a short space of time.

"Shaun does it loads in training, he's such a good player, it's good to see him getting the goals and rewards.

"It's such character as well, sometimes that goes missed. He missed the penalty the other day and he's still popping up scoring to put that behind him - that's some character.

"That's the sort of characters we have in this team."
