Palmer aims for Bucks return

Midfielder Steve Palmer is targeting a return to the AFC Telford United fold in time for next Saturday's trip to Fleetwood Town. And the popular club captain, pictured has not ruled out his chances of being involved in some capacity in Monday's Bank Holiday game with Witton Albion at the New Bucks Head.

Palmer has not featured so far after an injury-plagued pre-season that has left him short on match fitness compared to his team-mates.

But he turned out out for Solihull Borough in the Southern League division one west last weekend and was set to do the same this afternoon in a bid to play catch-up.

"It can't do any harm unless I go and pick up a knock, but that's a risk I've got to take," he said.

"I think the gaffer has gone on record as saying I was two weeks behind the rest of the lads and I'd agree with that.

"From a personal point of view I'd rather be playing for Telford but I couldn't expect to get in the team with the way the lads have been going in pre-season.

"Playing for Solihull is a short-term thing and hopefully it works for everyone.

"I definitely plan to be back. I'd like to think I'd be ready on Monday, but if not then I'd like to be there challenging for a place next Saturday."
