Acquisition deal for Telford home improvement firm

Lapis Home has bought out LoftZone which specialises in loft improvements

A home improvement business has expanded with the acquisition of a loft conversion specialist.

Telford-based Lapis Home has bought LoftZone which designs and makes the StoreFloor system.

The deal is the final step of a partnership which began in 2019 when Lapis Home became a shareholder in Essex-based LoftZone, since when the two businesses have worked side by side.

Lapis Home's chief executive Ben Crouch has sat on the LoftZone board since early 2025. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

LoftZone's StoreFloor system aims to create a strong floor for storage in a domestic loft space without crushing the insulation below it.

The system raises the boarding above the full depth of the insulation so the loft stays warm and becomes usable space.

Since its launch in 2011, StoreFloor has been fitted in more than 150,000 homes. LoftZone also has other loft improvement products such as shelving systems.

LoftZone becomes the fifth brand in the Lapis Home group, alongside Instaloft, Instaspark, Garageflex and The Storage Nook Co.

Post-deal, it will retain its own identity and specialist focus while benefiting from the shared services of the group.

Mr Crouch said: "This is the moment a seven-year partnership becomes a permanent home. We have backed LoftZone since 2019 and I have seen first-hand from the board how strong this team and product are.

"StoreFloor solves a real problem in homes across the country and we intend to take it much further.

"We will build LoftZone as an independent brand, with the investment, people and infrastructure to reach its full potential."

LoftZone's chief executive Dave Raval and chairman David Lennan will step down after a three-month handover period.

Mr Raval added: "Our mission has always been to give homeowners a safer, smarter way to use their loft without compromising their insulation.

"Lapis Home has been part of our story since 2019 so this feels like the natural next chapter, not a new one.

"I am proud to hand LoftZone over to a team that understands it, believes in it and has the resources to grow it.

"Over the next three months, my focus is on making that handover seamless for our customers, installers and people."
