Hay so happy to stay at Bucks

Striker Gary Hay has committed himself to AFC Telford United by telling boss Rob Smith he has no intention of signing for Bromsgrove Rovers. Southern League side Bromsgrove had served seven days' notice for Hay, but the 30-year-old insists he will reject their overtures.

And the marksman, who missed Tuesday's 1-0 win over Leek with a groin injury, could feature at home to North Ferriby United tomorrow if he passes a pre-match fitness test.

"Gary's committed himself to the club, he wants to stay with us," Smith announced. "He's enjoying it here and we've outlined how important he is to us.

"We shook on the fact that he's staying and he won't even be talking to Bromsgrove except to tell them that he's staying put.

"Gary's a player that myself and Larry (Chambers, assistant manager) picked up from the wilderness at Alvechurch and he's been with us ever since and we see him as our player."

"We're hopeful that he could play tomorrow. He's pulled a minor groin muscle and it could be that the physios strap him up and get him out there."

Smith certainly needs Hay fit, with no sign of an end to his ongoing injury problems.

Defender Dave Woodvine is the latest to be affected, picking up a groin injury.

There is also a chance that loan striker Lee Moore could be recalled by Tamworth to cover their own injury crisis.
