The midfielder netted his first league goal of the season in stoppage to secure the Bucks' 2-0 victory at Spennymoor Town on Tuesday.

Having dropped in and out of the starting 11 for much of the season it was a welcome contribution from Williams, and one that pleased his manager considerably.

"I'm delighted for Charlie," Wilkin began. "He'll certainly be frustrated at his game time, but he's fully understanding of the situation like all the lads on the bench are. They want to be playing and probably feel like they should be playing, and they can all count themselves unfortunate not to be.

"It's unfortunate that we haven't been able to get Charlie some more game time, but the attitude he's shown speaks volumes about him.

"To come off the bench and score the goal that secures the points for us late on at Spennymoor is something we're all delighted about.

"Charlie is still young and still learning. He's a terrific character and a great lad to have around the group, and hopefully a player that will be here for a few years to come.

"At the moment Jamie and Dylan have got the shirts and we've stayed with them for a few games, but it's not to say the others can't come in and do equally as well.

"When those players who've been on the fringe of things get an opportunity it's really important that they stake a claim to stay in the side, and as a manager it's nice to have lots of good players at your disposal.

"As we play more and more games hopefully there will be moments for others to come into the side and show what they're capable of."
