Ed Ashlin secures dramatic last-ball win for Sentinel

A four off the last ball of the game from skipper Ed Ashlin saw newcomers Sentinel to a dramatic two-wicket win in the Birmingham League Division Three.

Milford Hall were asked to bat first and reached 167-7 in 42 overs, top scorer Zaheer Suliman (38), one of two players stumped by Tom Matthews.

In reply, the efforts of Ejaz Nawaz (3-24) and Qamar Abbas (3-48) were in vain as Sentinel reached their revised target of 153 in 39 overs,

Tom Newnes returned 3-9 as Newport bowled out Brewood for 66 in just 23.5 overs. Three wickets each for Wade Lezar and Tom Holley made them battle all the way for victory but 21 from Jamie Prew settled the match in Newport’s favour by two wickets.

Warrick Fynn was in the runs again as Oswestry maintained their 100 per cent record in Division Two. Fynn added to his previous 107, 132 and 74 with 82 as Oswestry surpassed Halesowen’s 185-5 to win by two wickets.
