Rogers helped the Orleton Park club win the Birmingham League Premier Division title for the first time in 2003.

Since then he has played county cricket for Derbyshire and Northamptonshire while continuing to star for Western Australia.

He was last season's state cricketer of the year after crashing a season-high 1202 Pura Cup runs for Western Australia at an average of 70.71.

He will be vying for the opening role with Phil Jacques - and possibly Shane Watson and Mike Hussey.

Rogers, who turns 30 later this week, said he was in the best form of his career and maintains it is time he finally tested himself at the highest level.

"I had a good season last year and I think I'm playing as well as I ever have," he said.

"I'm getting to 30 this week so hopefully I'm ready, and if I'm not ready now I never will be."

The vying pair will also have the opportunity to push their claims when they tour Pakistan with the Australia 'A' side early next month.
