Commuters faced slow traffic after oil from the lorry spilled out over the road on the M54 Eastbound between J7 at Wellington and J6 at the Ketley Dingle Interchange.

The lorry's engine blew at about 3.15am and Highways England called in specialist equipment, including a hydroblaster, to clean-up the carriageway.

Highways England tweeted: "Lane one is closed on the M54 eastbound between J7 and J6 Telford due to a lorry which has suffered a blown engine.

"Oil is across the lane and a hydroblaster is expected on scene shortly to assist with carriageway clean-up."

The carriageway was reopened by about 10.30am.
