Three Chirk postcode areas suffer power cut right before England World Cup semi-final

Three Chirk postcode areas are out of power right before the England game.

Three postcode areas in Chirk have been hit with a power cut right before the World Cup semi-final kick-off time.

SP Energy Networks have confirmed a power outage in the LL14, LL11 and LL13 areas shortly before 7.45pm this evening (July 15).

England kicked-off against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup at 8pm - and the power remained out for the whole match.

A spokesperson for the energy provider: “There is an unexpected power cut affecting the LL14 postcode area of WREXHAM. Our engineers are onsite.

“In most cases, our engineers can get your power back on by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation, however, if the fault is complex, this may take us longer to fix.

“Should this happen, we will keep you updated. We aim to restore power by 16/07/2026, 02:22. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

As of 11pm (July 15), an engineer is on site and the incident is yet to be resolved.
