North Shropshire pub to reopen after £450k facelift
Town centre venue plans to host regular sport and entertainment and hold a collection for a local foodbank
A town centre pub in north Shropshire will reopen following a £450,000 renovation.
Boars Head in Oswestry will welcome back customers from Thursday October 29.
The pub has undergone a full refurbishment including new flooring, lighting, decor, furniture and fixings alongside the installation of a dancefloor.
Outside, there is an extended beer garden complete with a new outdoor stage and giant screen to show live music and sport. The pub will be hosting a launch party on Thursday including karaoke and a DJ.
Longer term, plans include regular live music, DJs, karaoke, quiz nights and pool and darts teams alongside regular collections for a local foodbank.

An application has also been lodged with Shropshire Council to extend the pub's opening hours, until 3.30am Monday to Thursday, 4.30am on Fridays and Saturdays and 1.30am on Sundays.
The venue in Willow Street is owned by Admiral Taverns under its ‘Proper Pubs' division which are wet-led, community venues and number 200 across Britain.
Operator of the Boars Head Sam Morris said: "It's been amazing to see the refurbishment come to life and I cannot wait to welcome customers back through the door.
"The space is already looking great and I'm really excited for people to experience all we have on offer with our new entertainment spaces both inside and outside.
"I would like to say a huge thank you to the whole team at the pub and also the team at Proper Pubs for their support throughout the renovation."
Matthew Gurney, operations director with Proper Pubs, added: "It has been a pleasure to work with Sam and the team on the refurbishment of The Boars Head.
"The pub already looks incredible both inside and outside and we can't wait to welcome the local community for opening night. On behalf of myself and the whole team at Proper Pubs, we'd like to wish Sam and the team every success for the future."
