'I do not support the Palestine poppy': Shropshire MP speaks out on controversial new design
The MP has taken to social media about the new design of the traditional Remembrance symbol
The MP for South Shropshire has come out against a new Palestine poppy design that has appeared online ahead of this year’s Remembrance commemorations.
Conservative MP, Stuart Anderson, has said he does “not support” the new Palestine poppy design, which was created by NHS doctor, Dr Abdul Qader Ismail, according to The Times, and sold on eBay.
Mr Anderson, the shadow minister for war readiness and British army veteran, took to social media to voice his opinion on the new Palestine Remembrance symbol.

The Tory MP said: “I do not support the new Palestinian poppy concept. I believe it is hijacking the symbol of remembrance.
“The red poppy represents sacrifice and respect for those who served and lost their lives in war.
“Remembrance should be about honouring the fallen, not changing the meaning of the symbol.”
The South Shropshire MP then posed a question to his followers: “What does wearing the red poppy mean to you?”
The Palestine poppy has made headlines recently for being a controversial new design for the traditional symbol.
