Major high street brand announces Bridgnorth opening date

Household name is coming to south Shropshire town centre to launch in the former home of Original Factory Shop

A new high street name is opening in Bridgnorth town centre this weekend.

Mountain Warehouse will throw open the doors to its new store on Saturday July 18 which will be housed in the former Original Factory Shop.

Spanning 4,745 sq ft, the new single-floor store in High Street has created seven jobs for the town.

Mountain Warehouse, which already operates stores in Oswestry, Telford and Wolverhampton, sells a wide range of outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment such as tents, luggage and fitness kit including from well-known brands such as Animal, Crocs and Hotter.

Founder Mark Neale said: "We're excited to share our passion for adventure with both residents and visitors in Bridgnorth and we're thrilled to open our new store here."

The launch is part of Mountain Warehouse's wider business expansion plans, following record sales in its latest annual results, driven by new stores and relocations.

It said it was planning 50 new openings and relocations across the UK and its international markets.

Plans for the new shop emerged last month when an application was submitted to Shropshire Council to add new signs to the building.

The Original Factory Shop was known as a landmark in Bridgnorth town centre but closed at the end of March.

It fell into administration in January alongside its sister company, accessories retailer Claire's.

The unit at 16 High Street store was also previously home to retail legend Woolworths and before that a hotel.
