'Very sad day': The Original Factory Shop closes its doors in Bridgnorth as staff bid final farewell

The store has closed four days earlier than originally planned.

Bridgnorth’s The Original Factory Shop closed its doors yesterday (March 31) after the company fell into administration in January.

Owners Modella Capital began insolvency proceedings in January and announced all its 137 stores would close.

The financial woes came only one year after the business was acquired by Modella.

While the Bridgnorth branch originally gave its last day of trading as April 4, the store actually closed on Tuesday in what staff said was a “very sad day for the team”.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the manager of Bridgnorth Original Factory Shop said: “Thanks to all staff who have been amazing for all their hard work over the years and especially over the past few months during this closing down process.

“Thanks to all the customers, new and old, thanks for the kind words. It’s been a very sad day today for the team. So, for the last time from me, thank you and goodbye.”
