The 34 Shropshire pubs, restaurants and takeaways with low food hygiene ratings ordered to improve this year
34 businesses have been told to improve this year
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) carries out regular inspections to ensure food businesses across the county are meeting required hygiene standards.
The rating system does not assess food quality or customer service; instead, it provides clear, public information about how safely and hygienically food is handled behind the scenes.
Inspectors examine three key areas: how food is prepared, cooked, cooled and stored; the cleanliness, layout and condition of the premises; and the systems and training in place to ensure food is kept safe.
Each area is scored and contributes to an overall rating from zero to five. A score of five indicates very good hygiene standards, while a zero means urgent improvement is required.
Across Shropshire and the borough of Telford and Wrekin, 34 businesses have been handed ratings of zero, one or two this year - meaning improvement is necessary.
