'Casualty' reported after bedroom fire in Shrewsbury home

Emergency services were called to a house fire after a blaze broke out in the bedroom of a Shrewsbury home.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to a home on Field Crescent in the Harlescott area of Shrewsbury at around 5am on Friday (February 6). 

Two crews from Shrewsbury Fire Station attended the scene, along with ambulance personnel and West Mercia Police.

A spokesperson for the fire service said the incident involved a fire in a bedroom of a two-storey, semi-detached property. 

One male casualty was reportedly attended to by the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Firefighters used jets to extinguish the blaze and reported the incident was under control by 6am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police have been approached for further information.
