Shrewsbury nursing home fire sparked by overheated tumble dryer

An overheated tumble dryer sparked a fire – and the alarm – at a Shrewsbury nursing home.

Firefighters were called to Maesbrook Nursing Home at around 5.50pm on Saturday.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue said: "Two fire appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury. An operations officer was in attendance.

"Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire: Thermal imaging camera

"Alarm activated due to over heated tumble dryer. Thorough inspection carried out using thermal imaging camera and advice given."
