Applications open for Powys secondary school places for September 2027
Parents and carers of children due to start Year 7 in September 2027 can now apply for a Powys secondary school place.
Applications are open from today (Tuesday, September 1 2026) until Friday 30 October 2026.
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 – 31 August 2016, now is the time to apply for their place at secondary school, starting in September 2027.
Applications can be made online via the Powys County Council website, where parents and carers can also find information about different schools, catchment areas, home-to-school transport and admissions arrangements.
Councillor James Gibson-Watt, Powys County Council's Cabinet Member for a Learning Powys, said: "Moving to secondary school is an important milestone in a young person's education. I would encourage all parents and carers of children due to start Year 7 in September 2027 to apply as early as possible and not wait until the deadline. Applying on time will help ensure your application is considered alongside all other on-time applications."
Parents and carers will receive the results of their application on Monday, March 1 2027.
