Newtown man told to expect jail after grooming 13-year-old girl

A young man from Mid Wales has been warned to expect custody after he admitted a grooming charge.

Defendant Connor Vowles, 21, of Lon Gwern, Newtown, appeared in the dock at Mold Crown Court.

He admitted that grooming a girl aged 13 between September and October 2016 - meeting a girl for sex having met or communicated with her previously.

The defendant also admitted a charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Judge Niclas Parry rebailed him pending sentence on December 21.

He said that all sentencing options would remain open and that he should prepare himself for a custodial sentence.

Vowles was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender in the meantime.
