David Timmins, who worked at Ercall Wood Technology College in Wellington, committed the offences between March 1 and September 10 this year, Shrewsbury Crown Court was told this morning.

The victim of the offences cannot be identified.

Timmins, 40, of Powys, pleaded guilty to the three charges of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16.

The case was adjourned to January 14 next year for sentence.

Timmins, whom Telford & Wrekin Council said had been suspended from his job on September 10 this year when the allegations came to light, was remanded in custody.

Timmins, formerly from Oswestry, qualified as a teacher after completing his training at Swansea University in 1997.

He worked as Pupil Progress Manager and was a member of the senior management team at Ercall Wood, in Golf Links Lane, in the last academic year.

He had special responsibility for behaviour, attendance and child protection.
