Market Drayton Christmas lights are damaged
Damage has been caused to Market Drayton's new Christmas lights.
Market Drayton Town Council officials said lights on Queen Street in the town have been cut.
Kate Harvey, assistant town clerk, said a contractor has been asked to come and replace the lights.
"They are new and have only been put up in the last two to three weeks. I have emailed the contractor who came out especially after the lights switch-on to replace them because they were tripping out including the tree in High Street due to them being on the same circuit," she said.
But she added: "I'm unsure of the costings yet but as you can imagine it will not be cheap. I feel so disappointed, especially as people are asking for more lights."
Residents recently vented their anger about how poor the Christmas lights are in the town centre this year.
People have called for more to be done to promote the town during the festive season.
Mayor Councillor David Minnery said the town would look at upgrading the lights for next year.
