But it's not often you come across someone dangling a fishing rod in the centre of a town.
That's what shoppers in Oswestry were greeted with at lunchtime today when a young man set himself up with a line over a drain outside a coffee shop.
Twitter user Tasha Jayne snapped a picture of the hopeful fisherman and posted it on social networking sites with the caption "Fishing anyone :-D he might let you buy them off him" gaining a flurry of replies.
Among the comments were questions from people getting into the spirit of the joke by asking what bait he was using to other people suggesting there may have been a television camera hidden somewhere nearby.
Tasha said: "It's believed to be a prank as he's got a sailor's hat on and bought two fish with him. He's been there since midday - people think it's great."
