On Tuesday, August 21, at about 5.15pm, at the top of Heathgates Bank, were a group of lads ages 13-16, one or maybe two had bikes.
I wanted to get on the cycle path off Whitchurch Road which they were blocking. I said: "Excuse me lads, can I get past."
Two moved but a lad on a bike immediately started to cycle alongside me in an unpleasant manner.
I won't go into details and he continued to do so until we were almost at Morrisons traffic lights.
Suddenly he turned and left. I carried on for some way when a young woman stepped forward and spoke.
I stopped and she repeated what she had said. He had left me because she, his aunt, had fortunately driven past and he had seen her.
Unable to stop because of fast traffic she knew by looking in her mirror that he had left me and she pulled in at the first opportunity.
She had guessed he was causing trouble and was very sorry about it and would see that the family knew.
I would like to say thank you to her for stopping him and for waiting to make sure I was all right.
Her sense of decency and responsibility were encouraging and I hope some of that rubs off on her nephew.
