Electric hot hatch benefits from the Government’s Electric Car Grant.

Vauxhall has confirmed that its new Corsa GSe will be priced from £32,995 when it goes on sale next month.

The Corsa GSe is a modern interpretation of some of Vauxhall’s classic hot hatches, including the Corsa VXR and the Nova GTE.

Underneath, the Corsa GSe uses a single electric motor which produces 277bhp and 345Nm of torque, enabling a 0-60mph time of 5.2 seconds which makes it the fastest-accelerating production Vauxhall on sale today. It’ll also manage a top speed of 112mph. Vauxhall has also upgraded the brakes on the GSe, fitting Alcon four-piston front calipers and 355mm front discs.

Linked to a 54kWh battery, this setup gets a claimed range of up to 232 miles, while a 0-80 per cent charge time of 30 minutes comes courtesy of 100kW rapid charge speed.

On the outside, the GSe is differentiated from the regular Corsa through several sporty upgrades, including a redesigned front splitter and bumper, larger air intakes and Intelli-Lux Matrix headlights. Around the back, there’s a black rear spoiler whole GSe badging is applied along the sides of the car. All versions sit on three-spoke 18-inch diamond-cut black alloy wheels, too.

Overall, the GSe sits lower than the standard Corsa, while wider tracks, stiffer spring rates and a new anti-roll bar aim to make it more dynamic to drive.

Inside, there are performance sport seats finished in a mix of Alcantara and cloth, while a black, grey and yellow chequered pattern takes inspiration from the Nova GTE. There’s also a heated Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel to finish off the sporty effect.

As standard, all cars get a 10-inch touchscreen incorporating both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a 10-inch digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver is also fitted. Other features include wireless smartphone charging and a six-speaker sound system.

The new Corsa GSe will go on sale in September, ahead of first deliveries commencing in the winter.
