Striking car is formed around a traditional 2+2 layout.

Italian design house GSG Style has created a new supercar with an unusual exterior material: hand-hammered copper.

The Peralta D has been designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro, son of Giorgetto Giugiaro, the founder of famous design house Italdesign.

Following on from GSG Style’s previous car – the Peralta S – Peralta D follows a typical 2+2 formula and is formed around a carbon fibre structure with an aluminium chassis underneath. It uses Maserati’s Gran Turismo as a base, but gets a number of upgrades and revisions, including wheels with a geometric pattern inspired by designs of the 1970s.

Even the doors are custom and are connected to the main ‘dome’ over the cabin so that the entire structure lifts up to allow access to the cabin. The windows open separately and form separate wings. GSG Style says that not only does the design add character to the car, but it also helps with access to the rear seats – something which can be tricky in a traditional coupe.

The lights at the front and rear of the car are ultra-sharp and the diamond-shaped grilles have been crafted and machined from solid aluminium.

Inside, there’s a widespread use of leather in areas such as the seats, dashboard and door panels, stitched together with real copper thread. As with the outside, you’ll find geometric shapes inside, and in addition to the main driver readout, the passenger gets their own dedicated makeup station with a monitor that doubles as an illuminated mirror. The rear section of the centre console hides a retractable fridge capable of holding a bottle of champagne.

There’s no word on price, but it’s likely that this one-of-one supercar will be accompanied by a high price tag.
