Lightweight sports car forms a key part of the brand’s 125th anniversary celebrations.

AC Cars is continuing its revival with its new AC Cobra GT Coupe.

First shown in concept form back in 2024, the Cobra GT Coupe is now ready for production and utilises many features first used on the Cobra Roadster introduced last year.

Underneath, you’ll find a Ford-derived 5.0-litre V8, available in either 450bhp naturally-aspirated form or 720bhp supercharged layout. These power outputs are coupled with a low weight of under 1,600kg, aimed at providing the highest level of performance possible. AC Cars quotes a 0-60mph time of under 3.5 seconds for the supercharged car, while either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic gearbox will be available.

Drawing inspiration from the AC A98 Coupe Le Mans racecar of the 1960s, the Cobra GT Coupe incorporates a wide body design with carbon fibre bodywork draped over an aluminium spaceframe chassis.

Inside, there is a range of high-end touches, including machined toggle switchgear and a mix of analogue instruments and digital screens. Unlike the original Cobra, the new GT Coupe benefits from several modern creature comforts, including electric windows, climate control and satellite navigation.

David Conza, chief executive officer of AC Cars, said: “The AC Cobra GT Coupe is unique in the history of AC Cars and, with production of the GT Roadster now underway, it shows the road ahead for the company as we build and deliver cars for existing customers.

“AC Cars continues to invest in its operations, and develop new partnerships. This will provide the catalyst to take AC Cars from around 100 hand-built cars a year currently up to no more than 1000 cars across all models in total.”

The new AC Cobra GT Coupe will be priced from £234,300 plus taxes for the naturally aspirated model, rising to £256,300 plus taxes for the supercharged version.
