Shropshire schools football association joins 4 All Foundation

The association, which has been running for more than 100 years, will continue providing school football opportunities across the county

The Shropshire Schools’ & Colleges Football Association (SSCFA) has become part of the 4 All Foundation as it looks to secure its future and continue its work with young footballers across the county.

Founded in 1924 and affiliated with the English Schools’ Football Association, SSCFA organises competitions for schools and colleges throughout the season, culminating in annual finals for boys’ and girls’ teams at primary and secondary level.

It also runs Shropshire representative teams, which compete against school and college sides from across the country in national leagues and cup competitions.

The association has helped a number of footballers during their early careers, including former England goalkeeper Joe Hart, Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, former Aston Villa player Dalian Atkinson and former England captain Billy Wright.

The 4 All Foundation, which already runs the North Shropshire District Association, has experience organising football leagues and competitions and has a wider focus on increasing sports participation.

The existing SSCFA operational and management team will remain in place, along with honorary and life members, to help ensure a smooth transition and retain the association's longstanding structure.

4 All Foundation chief executive George Hounsell said the partnership was a "ideal match" given the charity's focus on sports participation, health and wellbeing and its existing links with schools and colleges across Shropshire.

He added that the organisation was looking forward to delivering the 2026/27 football season and continuing the association's work for many years to come.

The 4 All Foundation was established by the Marches Multi-Academy Trust in 2022 and became an independent charity the following year. It also runs programmes covering community engagement, health and wellbeing, education and employability.
